NFL NEW FOOTBALL LEAGUE PLAYOFF FORMAT

A NEW PLAYOFF FORMAT PLAN

The 2008-9 NFL season has brought the weakness of the Playoff and Leaque Champions to the forefront. Paneagle devised the following plan, which will work much better than the current 6 league format.

New England was eliminated at 11-5 record while San Diego entered with an 8-8 record, which highlights the weakness of the old format.

TWO CONFERENCES WITH 4 EAST-WEST IN EACH CONFERENCE, 8 TEAMS PER DIVISION.

This would allow both the best records, and league champions, as it stands now, but without the tight 4 team leagues that resulted in the poor division champions. The best 4 conference champions would be in playoffs, with 4 wild cards with best records from each of the conferences, as it stands now, but without the limitation of a weak champion in a small 4 team league. This new plan would easily replace the old without setting up any other difficult changes to the structure.
It will work and be the better plan for the NFL to adopt.

GAME NUMBER ADVISORY

We also support the cutting out of 1 pre-season and 1 final season game, or cutting the season down one week on either side, thus to keep playoffs from beginning so late in the year, and cutting down on winter travel and game conditions which is a hazard and problems as it stands now. The first playoff does not begin until January.
This is not a good idea and needs to be addressed. Injuries and general discomfort for fans and players is not advised. Let's see these as the good changes to be made.
